Terms of Use

1. The service

Tayib analyses the declared composition of food products (barcode or label photo) and shows a halal verdict explained according to the school of law you choose, with its sources, plus a composition score. The app also offers educational content (guides, ingredient encyclopedia, reminders).

2. Tayib informs, it does not certify

Tayib is not a halal certification body and issues no certification. It does not replace a scholar, a fatwa, or a qualified person's advice on your personal situation. School readings and cited opinions are summaries shown with their sources; differences between scholars are displayed, not settled.

When a certification body is reported on a product page, Tayib mentions it but does not authenticate the certificate.

3. Data accuracy

Product data comes mainly from Open Food Facts, a collaborative database built by its contributors. It may be incomplete, wrong, or no longer match the pack on the shelf (recipe changes). Verdicts rely on this data and on the declared composition. Always check the pack, and when in doubt, ask the manufacturer or the certification body.

Allergen and product recall information is provided for guidance only; it does not replace reading the label or medical advice.

4. Free features

Scanning, the halal verdict, choosing your school, the score and the sources are free, with no ads.

5. Tayib+ subscription

Tayib+ is an auto-renewable annual subscription that unlocks: product search without scanning, family allergies and alerts, a watch on products you buy (recalls) and offline mode. It is offered at several prices (for example €10, €15 or €20 per year in France; the exact price in your currency is shown in the app before purchase). Every price gives exactly the same access: you choose how much of the project you carry.

• Payment is charged to your Apple account at confirmation of purchase.
• The subscription renews automatically for one year at the same price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You manage and cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings (Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under its terms (reportaproblem.apple.com).
• You can restore purchases from the app on any device linked to your Apple account.

6. Licence agreement (EULA)

The app is licensed, not sold. Its use is governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. These terms supplement it; where they conflict, Apple's EULA prevails for what it governs. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.

7. Content and intellectual property

The app, its text, design and illustrations belong to Tayib. Qur'an translations quoted are Sahih International (English) and Muhammad Hamidullah (French); hadith refer to their collections and translators, credited in the app. Open Food Facts product data is reused under an open licence (ODbL).

If you contribute to Open Food Facts from the app, your contribution is governed by Open Food Facts' terms.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the app (bulk data extraction, reverse engineering beyond what the law allows, interfering with its operation).

9. Liability

Tayib is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any purchase or consumption decision made on the basis of the app, nor for the unavailability of a third-party service (Open Food Facts, RappelConso…). Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Changes and governing law

We may change the app and these terms; the date above shows the latest version. These terms are governed by French law, subject to the mandatory rules of your country of residence.
